Lucina [ Fire Emblem : Awakening ]
From the 3DS hit Fire Emblem, I was charged with crafting this as a full costume set. Pants and the undershirt were cut and made to versatile for casual wear and for costume. The blue tunic was made fit with a hook front closure, snap buttons and a zip to hold the front properly. The cloak mantel was made with a hood and gold embroidery at the ends with a red lining. Finger-less gloves were made from fashion pleather and the same tunic fabric with a silver blue cuff. Boots were the client's own, was cut down and re made from the ground up with fashion pleather, tunic fabric and silver blue for the fold overs. Armor inserts were made with fabric covered plastic which were then stitched on at the knee, toes and nailed in at the heel. Belts for the waist and shoulder were made from upholstery vinyl with attachments made from wood, foam and chrome paint.
The armor was designed to be fully removable as shown in the illustration breakdown in the art book. Shoulder armor was made in two parts consisting of the lower and upper shoulder. The lower shoulder made made from five segments of armor connected by rivets for full articulation and mobility. The upper shoulder armor was attached via two slot points in the lower armor, to remove one simply needs to bend the tabs and pull. Attached to the tunic via underarm straps with both a chest and black strap, the armor is attached without hindering mobility.
Lastly to complete the costume, the sword Falchion was made in addition to the sheath. The sword was cut from poplar wood as its base and two small design overlays of bass wood. The sword was cut, shaped and narrowed down via bandsaw, dremel, rasp and router. It was finished off with high grit sandpaper, painted with chrome gold/silver paint and wrapped with maroon fashion pleather for the handle. The sheath was sewn together in two halves; gold and maroon pleather with lining fabric and shaped PVC plastic sheets placed between.
